Woohoo...I received my beautiful DQS11 quilt from Suzanne!

And also some fabric for my stash...Yay!

This doll swap has been so much fun,

so many creative quilters in it!

I finally decided that the Hope Valley doll quilt will go to my partner.

I hand quilted it. I hope she likes it!

I finished one of the DQS11, the zigzag one.

I think it turned out pretty nice, machine quilted this one.

The Hope Valley one I'm hand quilting,

so almost finished with that one.

I'll have to decide which one, mail date is Tues. the 16th!

My sister, Debby, is taking a class at Lake County College,

so I made here a couple of zippered pouches.

I used Bits and Pieces tutorial.

One for her calculator and one for pens, pencils and markers.

I used a cute little polka-dot for the lining.

Finished and sent out my postcards for the 4X6er's,

but I can't show you picks until they receive them.

Well, I bit the bullet and joined this one.

Going to use Denyse Schmidt's Hope Valley,

along with some solids.

Quite a lot of people are doing it.

~~Unfortunately I'm still waiting for the book~~,

so I'll have some catching up to do when it gets here.
Yay! Book just came in today's mail!!!

Got the towels done for the towel swap.

Received my star row for my Robin Rowers.

We're half way through it.

Animals is the next row, I have mine pretty much all planned out.

I think all my rows look great together!

Got my postcards done, but can't post pics until my partners receive theirs.

My daughter took a great pick of my SIL Bill and

my grandson Billy at the park near the beach last week.

Don't know where the time goes to.

I needed to remake some mug rugs for the Mug Rug Swap.

My first ones I made seem to have been lost by the

postal system ,a first for me,

they're usually very dependable.

Fabric is Wild Thyme from SewFreshFabrics and NationCreations.

so I have a place to live.

So a thank you gift...a quilt...what else?!

My quilt was inspired by Kari Ramsey and her Moda Bake Shop tutorial.

I followed it through step #12. I made my borders differently.

Here's how I made it...

Select fabrics...

Origins by Basic Grey for Moda Fabrics

perfect for her house

1 layer cake

1 yard Grunge in Brown Sugar

...half yard each for inner border and binding.

2 yards Aromatherapy in Vanilla

from one of my favorite shops, Fresh-Squeezed Fabrics

Pair up squares and stitch 1/4 inch around all four sides.

I did one light and one dark.

cut diagonally twice

and ...voila! four half-square triangles

trim to 6 1/2 inches

that's a lot of trimming!

Beautiful!

Lay out in a nice pattern and sew together.

I sewed four together with the dark to the center.

This made a 12 1/2" square.

And sewed them in rows and then sewed the rows together.

Add borders, Brown Grunge was cut into 2 1/2 inch strips

for inner border,

measure strip length after you have sewn the squares together.

Floral was cut into 6 1/2 inch strips for outer border,

same here, measure after first border is sewn on.

Make your quilt sandwich then quilt.

I quilted 1/4 inch away on all seams

Add your binding and you're done!

My finished quilt measured 60X72.

Then I made this...actually two of them.

This is a table my dad made, we both have one, so they're on each side of the couch.

This is Sandi Andersen's Candle Mat pattern from here.

I added a one inch inner border and a two inch outer border,

there's enough left over from making quilt.

The table is from Norman Rockwell's Santa at his Desk,

it was on the Saturday Evening post Magazine,

my dad drafted the plans for the table from the picture.

My dad also made the lamp...he's a crafty guy.

Whew! Finally done with my move from NC to IL.

Still working on getting all my stuff organized,

nothing like a move to find out how much junk you have, lol.

Last year or two has been rough,

ready for some smooth sailing now!

This will be a busy year quilt wise.

I belong to the 4X6ers, that's every other month.

The Robin Rowers, that's every other month too.

Browsing through etsy.com I came across this shop and he had it on sale...yippee!

Then I received an email saying I was his 1000th sale and won a $15 gift certificate for his shop. How cool is that?!

I've signed up for 2 Siggy block swaps. One through Facebook, here, and one on Flickr, here. Started picking out fabrics and getting them ironed. The FB one is batiks on white on white, the Flickr one is modern( Amy Butler etc.) on white. I have most of the fabric, just need to pick up another Soire'e charm pack and a yard of Moda white. I'll get that tomorrow, quilt club day! First of the new quilt. I have lots of show and tell, so does my SIL Cynthia. Just wish it wasn't so darn cold out! Too cold for NC, take it back IL.

Been working on making bags, lots of fun. SIL Cindy came over Sat. We went to the Cruso Quilt Show, quilts were great, one vendor, J Creek Fabrics is owned by my friend Janie. Haven't seen her in awhile, so that was wonderful. Then back to my house to work on bags. Going to make more, they turned out very cute! Still have to get it in gear and start my good Ol' Summertime Mini quilt for that swap.
Made banana muffins and cooking pork chops in the slow cooker...yum.

Got back from our second day of shop hopping! What fun!
Went with my SIL Cynthia, we had a blast.
So much fun visiting different quilt shops.
Here's a picture of all the goodies I got.
We visited nine shops out of the 14. Next Thurs.-Sat. we stay down in Greenville, SC(3 days & 2 nights) to do the shops in SC. Shop during the day and sew in the evening in our hotel room! :)
